Hello, my name is Thom Stal from the regio of Alkmaar in the province of North Holland (Netherlands). Since the April 2024 I started to become a concertphotographer outside my regular fulltime job.
There is a unique kind of magic that happens between a stage and the crowd. A fast flowing moment of raw energy and emotion that most people only feel. I wan’t to make sure that they can see it, too. For me it is not about the setlist. It is about the grit, and the split second emotions that define a live show. Whether it is a high pace rock performance or an intimate acoustic set.. My goal is to translate the sound into a visual story that resonates long after the final encore.
My Style and What to Expect
My Style:
My photography style is defined in a bold way of using contrasts and cinematic lightning. I don’t just want to document a concert, I want to capture how the concert feels. My
- Dramatic contrasts: I play with deep shadows and vibrant stage lights to create a cinematic shot.
- Film-Inspired: In a world full of digital smooth shots I try to break that a bit in my edits. I love to work with the grain and texture of a photo to give it that feel of the classic analog and timeless photo.
- Intimate moments: Finding those split-second, candid expressions that show the soul of the artist.
What to expect:
When we collaborate, my goal is to capture the essence of your performance while ensuring a seamless professional experience.
- Fly on the wall: I move through the photopit and backstage with respect for the artist, crew and the fans. Trying to be invisible as possible. Capturing the best angles withour ever breaking the connection between you and your audience.
- The pursuit of the “Iconic” shot: I’m not there to just snap pictures. I’m looking for the frame that looks like a movie still or a big poster.
- Swift and reliable delivery: You can expect to have the photo’s most of the time within 24 hours. This will be the full cinematic gallery.
I’m always open to new collaborations. From local club gigs to touring festivals. Let’s create something that echoes the noise of the night.
